Courtney (Caplan) Young
PRESIDENT + OWNER
As the leader of Caplan Miller Events, Courtney has built the company’s success on her reputation for excellence and creativity. She manages all aspects of event production and ensures the highest levels of service and execution. With the perfect combination of flexibility and precision — and a great sense of humor — she leads a talented team that exceeds client expectations time and time again. Caplan Miller Events’ work has been featured in BRIDES, The Knot, Style Me Pretty, Austin Monthly, Austin Business Journal, D Magazine, and Tribeza — to name a few.
A native Texan, Courtney grew up in Houston and is a proud graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. She founded the company in 2006 after managing events at the historic Driskill Hotel, which she helped develop into a place to see and be seen — especially for work or weddings. When she’s not in the office or at an event, you’ll find Courtney lounging on the back of a boat on Lake Travis or indulging her TV addiction with her husband, John, and their pups, Olive and Roux.
Sarah is Caplan Miller’s creative visionary and head of our design team. With a unique ability to spin ideas into full-fledged event environments, she knows the right mix of aesthetics to accomplish your goals. Listening and understanding each personal inspiration, Sarah builds a unique, authentic look and feel that is a true reflection of the client. Whether celebrating success at a company event or lasting love at an intimate wedding, your event will have the right combination of color, lighting, room setup, food and much more with Sarah at the helm.
Raised in Central Texas, Sarah attended Texas State University and the Texas Culinary Academy. With an extensive background in culinary arts and event planning, she worked in hotels, first the Radisson Austin and then The Driskill Hotel, before joining Courtney to form Caplan Miller Events. Sarah is an active member of the Austin community, serving on the Dell Children’s Trust of Central Texas, Mobile Loaves and Fishes, as well as the Texas PTA where her children Will and Ava attend. In her spare time, you’ll find her enjoying a barre workout or running on Austin’s trails.
SENIOR EVENT PRODUCER
Dani coordinates the creative and logistical aspects of each CME event. Managing everything from budgets and guest lists to design pitches and space layouts, she helps ensure our clients’ visions come to life. Dani is an excel wiz, a killer multitasker, and a people person — truly an event-planning powerhouse. While earning her degree at Texas State University, she discovered her true calling in event production as an intern with Caplan Miller Events. She officially joined the company in 2011. Outside the office, Dani loves trying out Austin’s newest restaurants with her fiancé and soaking up the sun with her long-haired dachshund, Cooper.
At every Caplan Miller event, Anita is on the front lines making sure that everything goes according to plan — whatever it takes. She helps facilitate each step of the process, selecting vendors, curating the menu, and scouting the band that will keep guests dancing all night long. She also manages pre-event logistics and serves as the client and vendors’ main point of contact at the event. Then, she wraps it up with a recap to ensure client satisfaction.
Anita graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2012. After an event, you’ll find her winding down with a plate of Eggs Benedict or Stuffed French Toast at one of Austin’s best brunch spots — a glass of rosé in hand. She also loves spending quality time with her loving family, cute nieces.
Nicole ensures every Caplan Miller event has unforgettable pizazz. As part of the logistics team, she works to understand clients’ personalities and goals and calls on the perfect vendors for hair and makeup, photography and videography, and interactive activities. She makes even the smallest of details perfect, curating welcome gifts, orchestrating creative send-offs, and doing in-house print and web design. She also works with Anita to manage logistics day of — making sure the client never stops smiling.
Nicole grew up in Portland (small-town Texas, not Oregon) and attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she completed the Texas Creative Sequence and earned her degree in Advertising with a minor in Textiles and Apparel. During college, she served as the Art Director for the University Fashion Group. She also worked at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and interned with C3 Presents, supporting the merchandising team at Lollapalooza and the Austin City Limits Music Festival. After hours, you’ll find her trying new craft cocktails at Austin’s best bars (most often Weather Up) — or mixing one up herself.
OLIVE, Director of Licks & Kisses
I’m Courtney’s sweet black pug with a chin full of gray hairs and a permanent frown. But don’t let that fool you! I have an uncontrollable urge to kiss and lick your face. I hope that’s okay… Come see me staring out of the CME office windows and barking loudly whenever trucks drive by.
ROUX, Director of Barking Entertainment
I’m a very rare blue and white French bulldog. As you can see, I work out on a regular basis. I am 19 lbs of pure muscle, and I love to bark — really loudly. Come see me as I get my exercise in by running from one end of the office to the other.
COOPER, Director of Napping
I’m a tiny and adorable long-haired dachshund mix and boy, am I tired! Excuse me while I yawn and lounge. I love resting in bed, but when I’m awake, you can find me attending meetings at the CME conference table. I’m great at jumping up into the chairs and leading the staff meetings.
